Brazilian e-Visa for Tourists from USA, Canada, and Australia

The Brazilian Government has resumed the visa requirement for tourists from United States, Canada and Australia, starting on April 10, 2025. The visa requirement was reinstated by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2023, reversing the law made by Jair Bolsonaro Government.

Principle of Reciprocity: The decision to resume the visa requirement was made considering the principle of reciprocity, as Brazilians need visas to travel to these countries.

How to Apply for Brazilian e-Visa:

  1. Registration and Form: Register on the VFS Global website (https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/) and fill out the form.

  2. Passport: During registration, you will be asked to submit a digitized copy of your passport and a photo.

  3. Payment of Fee: Pay the fee of US$ 80.90. The applicant will receive an email with the status of the application.

  4. Visa Granted: Once the application is approved, the applicant will receive the e-Visa in PDF format by email.

  5. Travel to Brazil: It is necessary to download, print and present the visa at boarding and disembarking in Brazil.

Note: No interview, airline ticket, or proof of income is required. Minors need a birth certificate and authorization from their parents authenticated by a Notary.

Length of Stay: The maximum permitted stay with the e-Visa is 90 days, with the possibility of renewal in some cases.

Other Countries: Brazil requires visas for people of more than 60 nationalities. The visa requirement is mostly based on the principle of reciprocity.
